Obituary of Alta Jean Jones

Hillsboro, Tennessee - Mrs. Alta Jean Jones, age 84, of Hillsboro, TN, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Manchester, TN. Mrs. Jones was born on May 21, 1938 to her late parents EA Buckner and Martha Zora Dotson Buckner. She was the vice president of People’s Bank and Trust Company in Manchester for many years. Mrs. Jones also worked for American City Bank as well. She was also involved with the Soroptomist organization as well as Exchange Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, JP Jones; brothers, AB Buckner, Lester Buckner, and Leland Buckner, and one sister, Wilda Vanderpoole. Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, John (Vickie) Jones; grandchildren, Ashley M. Jones and Morgan H. (Drew) Burgess; great grandchildren, Jones Burgess and Lakelynne Burgess; honorary grandchildren, Casie Martin (Kyle) and their son Jax Martin. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00am at Asbury Methodist Cemetery. Burial will immediately follow the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation, or Hospice Compassus.
